Perpetual hands Letran's first loss in NCAA women's beach volleyball

Defending champion Colegio de San Juan de Letran absorbed its first loss in the NCAA Season 100 women's beach volleyball tournament at the hands of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 21-18, 18-21, 15-10, Thursday at the Subic Freeport Zone in Zambales.

Both teams were tied at nine in the deciding set before the Lady Altas made five straight to reach match point. The duo of Lara Mae Silva and Gia Maquilang salvaged one before the pair of Pauline Reyes and Camille Bustamante sealed the victory.

This is Letran's first loss since sweeping the NCAA Season 99 beach volleyball tourney and winning its first five matches this season.

Lyceum of the Philippines University grabbed the top spot by the end of Thursday's games with a 6-1 win-loss card, while Letran slipped to 5-1. Emilio Aguinaldo College is at 4-2, while San Beda University and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde both had 3-3 records. The Lady Altas, meanwhile, improved to 3-2, tied in win-loss record with Arellano University. San Sebastian College-Recoletos (1-5), Jose Rizal University (1-4), and Mapua University (0-6) are in the last three spots.

In the men's division, EAC remained perfect with six wins after defeating SSC-R (22-20, 21-15) and San Beda (21-18, 21-10), while Perpetual also remained spotless with five wins.

Mapua University improved to 6-0 in the juniors division after defeating Benilde (21-17, 21-12) and JRU (15-21, 21-19, 15-13).
