San Beda defends home court vs Arellano; EAC goes 2-0 in NCAA men's volleyball

San Beda University defended its home court against the visiting Arellano University, 18-25, 25-18, 25-19, 29-27, on Friday in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball tournament at the San Beda University gym in Manila.

The fourth set saw a tight match as both teams eventually went neck-and-neck after the Red Spikers' 4-0 start. The Chiefs had a 23-21 lead before San Beda scored two straight to tie the set. Arellano eventually reached match point first but Laurence Salvo had a service error to tie the set anew. Ryan Rosman put the Red Spikers in front, but Mark Kevin Montemayor's service went out of bounds to put the set at 25-all.

Carl Berdal's attack gave Arellano a chance to take the set, but Anrie Bakil answered with his own to put the set at 26-all. Axel Van Book then gave the headway for San Beda, but Anfernee Curamen refused to hand the victory to San Beda. However, a net touch violation was called on the Chiefs before San Beda sealed the victory.

Book had 22 points from 20 attacks and two blocks, while Rosman and Alener Munsing had 13 points apiece as the Red Spikers barged into the win column after falling to the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in their opening match.

Jiwen Sinuto had 12 points, while Berdal and Curamen added 11 points each for the Chiefs who slipped to 1-2.

Earlier, Emilio Aguinaldo College defeated San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 26-24, 25-14, 23-25, 25-18, to notch its second straight win.

Frel Taculog had 22 points, while Justine Say and Ruther Abor had 18 and 17 points, respectively for the Generals.
