Benilde downs Letran to go 4-0; San Beda beats EAC for third straight win

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde took down Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 25-9, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20, to remain undefeated in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball tournament at the Lyceum of the Philippines University gym in Manila.

Rookie Rocky Roy Motol led the Blazers anew with 18 points anchored on 17 attacks, while Arnel Christian Aguilar and John Austero had 12 and 11 points, respectively as the Taft-based squad extended its streak to four.

Vince Himzon had 11 points, while Bembem Bautista had 10 points as the Knights absorbed their second straight loss.

"Ang mindset ng team is talagang we're hungry to win talaga. Uhaw kami makabalik sa taas talaga pero hindi namin mamadaliin, one game at a time," Benilde head coach Arnold Laniog said. "4-0 is umpisa pa lang 'yan, hopefully magtuloy-tuloy ang momentum. Pag-aaralan pa rin namin every game na makakalaban namin. 'Yung tutok lang ng players ko ang hindi dapat mawala."

"The more na nananalo, the more na magpe-prepare tayo dahil ang kalaban mas nagpe-prepare din," he added.

Motol, meanwhile, said the four-game winning streak is a product of their hard work.

"Sana magtuloy-tuloy itong panalo namin," he said.

Earlier, San Beda University extended its winning streak to three after sweeping erstwhile undefeated Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21.

Axel Van Book led the Red Spikers anew with 13 points, while Ryan Rosman had 11 points.

Ruther Abor led the Generals with 15 points, while Frel Taculog had 10 points.
