Mapua goes 4-0 in men's volleyball; Lady Cardinals outlast EAC in five sets

Mapua University remained unbeaten in men's volleyball after outlasting Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20, 25-27, 15-12, in NCAA Season 100 on Thursday at the Arellano University gym in Manila.

In the fifth set, Mapua had a 9-4 lead before the Generals inched closer, 10-9. Errors from both camps marred the homestretch as EAC inched closer, 13-12. 

Ramos eventually delivered the final blow for the Cardinals to cap his 27-point outing. '

He had 24 attacks, two blocks, and an ace, while Marlowe Jamisola had 20 points. Juancho Barba also had 25 out of the Intramuros-based squad's 27 excellent sets.

Ruther Abor, meanwhile, had 19 points as EAC slipped to 2-2 in the standings.

"Nag-mindset lang po kami na hindi kami basta-basta bumibitaw kasi pinaghirapan namin 'to, kailangan namin ilaban nang ilaban 'to sa loob ng court kahit sobrang pagod kasi ang haba ng rally, hindi ko in-expect na mauubos ako sa bandang huli," Ramos said.

Earlier, their female counterparts also survived a five-setter against the Lady Generals, 27-25, 25-21, 22-25, 19-25, 15-10.

Raissa Ricablanca led the Lady Cardinals with 20 points, while Nadine Berces had 12 points as the Mapua women's team notched their second straight win for a 2-2 record.

Jing Alimen had 20 points, while Erica Bodonal added 19 points as EAC slipped to 1-3 in the standings.
