Lyceum of the Philippines University ended its first round campaign on a high note at the expense of Jose Rizal University, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19, on Thursday in the NCAA Season 100 women's volleyball tournament at the San Sebastian College-Recoletos gym in Manila.
Joan Doguna once again led the Lady Pirates with 14 points from 12 attacks and two aces, while Johna Dolorito added 13 points as LPU notched its second consecutive win after defeating San Beda University last April 4.
Nicole Deala led the Lady Bombers with nine points, while Mailey Amante and Patricia Del Pilar had seven points apiece as JRU absorbed its fifth straight loss and slipped to 1-8.
The second round of the women's volleyball tournament is scheduled to return after the Holy Week.
