Resurgent San Sebastian rides Kyle Villamor's heroics anew to beat San Beda

Kyle Villamor picked up where he left off to power the resurgent San Sebastian College-Recoletos to a 25-23, 25-18, 17-25, 25-19 win over San Beda University in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The outside spiker poured in a monster double-double of 18 points and 30 receptions alongside six digs to follow up on his all-around outing against Arellano University last Friday, where he detonated for 28 markers, 16 digs, and 27 receptions.

With the veteran showing the way, the Stags have now won two games in a row to improve to 3-8 and revive their Final Four chances. The Red Spikers, meanwhile, slipped to 6-5.

San Beda, though, made sure not to go down without a fight with Anrie Bakil and Axel Van Book powering their third set comeback to force a fourth frame.

But the Stags rediscovered the form that allowed them to upset the Chiefs two days ago, leaning on Villamor once more as the do-it-all spiker brought them to an 18-15 cushion.

Middle blocker Rhenmart Alba then put on the finishing touch with back-to-back quick attacks that made it a sizable 22-17 lead for the Stags before Cedric Lim punctuated a long rally through a tip at the middle, 23-17.

Joshua Espenida then completed a combination play before Lim destroyed the one-man block of Dominic Castaneda to deliver the game-winning point.

Espenida tallied 20 points while Alba and Lim finished with 17 and 12 markers apiece for a balanced San Sebastian attack.
