Anfernee Curamen stands tall as Arellano makes quick work of San Beda

Anfernee Curamen imposed his will at the net, steering Arellano University to a dominant 25-17, 25-19, 25-23 sweep of San Beda University in NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball action on Wednesday.

The veteran middle blocker scattered a team-high 15 points, anchored on 10 attacks, three blocks, and two aces, as the Chiefs notched back-to-back wins to improve to 8-4. With the victory, Arellano now holds solo third in the standings, behind Mapua (11-1) and Benilde (9-2).

Carl Berdal also delivered a steady performance with 14 points and 10 receptions, while Jiwen Sinuto chipped in 11 markers.

Arellano had to weather a third-set surge from San Beda, with Kevin Montemayor igniting the Red Spikers’ fightback. He fired an attack from the left wing and followed it up with an ace to give San Beda a slim 12-11 lead.

But the Chiefs leaned on their solid net defense and timely offense to regain control as another middle blocker Jake Pangilinan hammered a quick attack before Curamen denied Montemayor at the net to knot the score at 17-all.

San Beda forced another deadlock at 21-all, but the Chiefs—fresh off a stunning win over previously unbeaten Mapua last Sunday—turned to Pangilinan and Berdal. Berdal’s cross-court kill pushed Arellano to match point at 24-22.

Sinuto then sealed the deal with a kill from the right side as Arellano continued to solidify its Final Four bid.

Montemayor led San Beda with 10 points off the bench, while Axel Van Book was limited to nine markers.
