San Beda downs Mapua, snaps back-to-back losses in NCAA men's volleyball

San Beda University returned to its winning ways after taking down Mapua University, 13-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-20, on Sunday in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

After a first set hiccup, it was all systems go for the Red Spikers as they led for majority of the match before claiming the victory.

Axel Van Book and Ralph Cabalsa led the Mendiola-based crew with 14 points apiece, with the former having 12 excellent receptions, while the latter had 10 digs. Anrie Bakil added 10 points as the Red Spikers improved to 7-6.

Arjay Ramos had 18 points, while Barbie San Andres and Olsen Jamisola had 14 and 12 points, respectively as the San Beda win also snapped Mapua's back-to-back victories. The Cardinals, who played their third game this week, absorbed their second loss and slipped to 12-2.

San Beda will face Lyceum of the Philippines University on Tuesday while Mapua will play on May 17 after the tournament takes a break to give way for the national and local elections.
