Colegio de San Juan de Letran shrugged off a third-set resurgence from San Sebastian College-Recoletos to complete a sweep, 25-21, 25-22, 25-23, in the NCAA Season 100 women's volleyball on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
The Lady Knights, who nearly wasted a huge lead in the final frame, captured their sixth straight victory to improve to 12-2 while the Lady Stags slipped to an even 7-7 card.
Rookie outside spiker Vanessa Sarie led from all ends with 17 points together with 12 digs and 12 receptions while opposite hitter Judiel Nitura poured in 15 markers built on 11 attacks, three aces, and one block.
Gia Maquilang chipped in 11 markers while middle blocker Marjorie Napal chimed in with six markers.
Letran imposed its dominance early by winning the first two sets and mounting a comfortable 17-8 lead in the third set after a rare attack from setter Natalie Estreller.
But the Lady Stags turned to their bench in their comeback attempt with Juna Gonzales and Divine Garcia powering their resurgence as they came within a point, 22-23, after a Maquilang attack error.
But the sophomore Maquilang made up for it, squeezing it through the two-woman block of Princess Ramos and Von Dimaculangan to send the Intramuros crew to match point at 24-22.
Garcia saved one point for San Sebastian with her down-the-line kill but Sarie put the exclamation with her own attack as Letran cruised to its fourth straight-sets win.
