The NCAA Season 101 volleyball tournament will open on Friday, with all games played at the San Andres Gym in Manila.
The tournament will follow the same format as the basketball competition. The 10 participating teams have been divided into two groups. The Final Four teams from last season’s women’s volleyball tournament were assigned to the groups, while the remaining six teams were determined by a drawing of lots.
The same groupings will also apply to the men’s competition.
Group A:
- Benilde
- Mapua
- San Sebastian
- JRU
- Perpetual
Group B:
- Letran
- Arellano
- LPU
- San Beda
- EAC
Teams will first compete against the other teams within their group before facing the teams from the opposite group. After these cross-group matches, teams return to their original groups for one more round robin to finalize the standings at the end of the classification phase.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, with the top two teams in each group enjoying a twice-to-beat advantage. Teams finishing fourth and fifth in the group phase will compete in a play-in round to determine the last quarterfinals spot.
Quarterfinal winners will advance to the best-of-three semifinals, with the winners moving on to the finals.
