NCAA: Juna May Gonzales, Kyle Villamor take charge as San Sebastian teams cruise past JRU

Juna May Gonzales and Kyle Villamor shone as San Sebastian College-Recoletos cruised past Jose Rizal University teams in the NCAA Season 101 women’s and men’s volleyball tournaments on Saturday at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.

Gonzales dropped a double-double outing of 17 points and 10 digs to help the Lady Stags pull off a 25-16, 25-20, 19-25, 25-19 win against the JRU Lady Bombers.

Gonzales got enough help with Princess Ramos and veteran Kath Santos chiming in with 13 and 11 markers apiece.

The win gave the Lady Stags a big headstart to its Season 101 campaign, where the wards of head coach Roger Gorayeb are eyeing to atone for their 7th place finish last year.

San Sebastian also got a winning start for its men’s team after Villamor spearheaded a 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 sweep of JRU Heavy Bombers.

The seasoned outside spiker dazzled with an all-around outing of 16 points, 12 receptions, and four digs for their first win of the season.

Joshua Espenida chipped in 14 points while Rhenmart Alba posted nine markers.
