Colegio de San Juan de Letran swept Emilio Aguinaldo College in both the men’s and women’s volleyball tournaments to cap the opening weekend of NCAA Season 101 on Sunday at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
In the women’s division, the Lady Knights swept the Lady Generals, 25-9, 25-10, 28-26, to improve to 2-0.
Judiel Nitura once again paced the Intramuros-based squad with 18 points built on 16 attacks and an ace, along with eight excellent digs. Vanessa Sarie and Yen Martin chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Setter Nat Estreller was solid at the helm, tallying 20 of Letran’s 22 excellent sets in the match.
No Lady General scored in double figures, with Alex Rasonable leading EAC with seven points in their opening game of the season.
In the men’s division, Letran likewise dominated EAC in straight sets, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23.
Christer Lou Ambrocio led the Knights with 13 points, while Bembem Bautista added 11 markers to go along with 16 receptions and five digs.
The win spoiled a 26-point explosion from Franz Jaime Sarcauga for the Generals.
With the victory, Letran improved to 1-1 in the men’s tournament, while EAC opened its campaign with a loss.
