NCAA: Benilde Lady Blazers bounce back, sweep San Sebastian; Blazers hand Golden Stags first loss

The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers bounced back with a straight sets win over San Sebastian College–Recoletos, 26-24, 25-16, 25-22, on Friday in the NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball tournament.

Zam Nolasco powered the Taft-based squad with 20 points built on 14 attacks, four blocks, and two aces as Benilde recovered from a five-set loss to the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

Camila Bartolome, Shekaina Lleses, Shanna Lleses, and Clydel Catarig added nine points apiece for the Lady Blazers.

Kath Santos and Juna May Gonzales led the Lady Stags with 12 points each.

With the win, Benilde improved to 2-1, while San Sebastian slipped to 1-2 in Group A of the women’s tournament.

In the men’s division, the Benilde Blazers also swept the Golden Stags, 27-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Mike Balbacal and Rocky Motol paced Benilde with 13 and 12 points, respectively, as the Blazers climbed to a 2-1 record.

Kyle Villamor finished with 20 points for San Sebastian, which absorbed its first loss after opening the tournament with two straight wins.
