NCAA: Letran remains unscathed after silencing San Beda in rivalry clash; Benilde downs JRU

Colegio de San Juan de Letran overcame a Set 1 scare from San Beda University to complete a 17-25, 25-13, 25-13, 25-13 win in the NCAA Season 101 women's volleyball on Tuesday at the San Andres Sports Complex.

The Lady Knights uncharacteristically dropped the opening frame, but regained their usual form in the succeeding sets to turn back the Lady Red Spikers and protect their unbeaten start.

Letran improved to 4-0 in Group B while dealing its rival San Beda its first loss as the Mendiola crew dropped to 3-1.

Judiel Nitura was in her element after posting 22 points built on 19 attacks, two aces, and one block to continue her fine performance in the new season.

Vanessa Sarie and Gia Maquilang, meanwhile, posted 14 markers apiece with the latter grabbing 18 digs and seven receptions.

Similar to Letran, defending four-time champion De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde has also extended its winning streak after making quick work of Jose Rizal University, 25-15, 25-18, 25-18.

Usual suspect Zam Nolasco dazzled anew with 20 points while Camila Bartolome churned out 12 markers as the Lady Blazers captured their back-to-back wins since absorbing a stunning loss to Perpetual last Sunday.
