Johna Dolorito powered Lyceum of the Philippines University past San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 26-28, 25-23, 25-18, 25-18, on Friday as the second phase of the NCAA Season 101 volleyball tournament classification round opened at the San Andres Gym in Manila.
Dolorito finished with 26 points on 24 attacks and two aces, along with nine digs, as the Lady Pirates secured their second straight win and improved to 2-3 in Group B.
The victory spoiled a strong performance from Kath Santos, who tallied 24 points for the Lady Stags. San Sebastian slipped to 1-4 after absorbing its third consecutive loss.
In the men’s division, San Sebastian bounced back as the Stags outlasted the Pirates in a thrilling five-set encounter, 25-23, 16-25, 27-25, 21-25, 15-11.
Ellemar Dullette led the way with 24 points built on 21 attacks and three blocks, to go with six digs. Kyle Villamor, Christian Alba, and Aaron Binondo added 16, 14, and 12 points, respectively, as San Sebastian improved to 3-2.
For LPU, Jun Edang and Charles Segui scored 28 and 21 points, respectively, but the Pirates still fell short of their first win of the season.
