NCAA: Angel Habacon, Axel Van Book tow San Beda teams past JRU

Angel Habacon and Axel Van Book powered their respective San Beda University teams to victories over Jose Rizal University in the NCAA Season 101 volleyball tournament on Friday at the San Andres Gym in Manila.

Habacon erupted for 26 points on 24 attacks and two aces, adding nine receptions, as the Lady Red Spikers improved to a 4-1 record. Janelle Bachar provided ample support with 21 points.

The win spoiled strong efforts from Kyla Navarra and Nicole Deala, who scored 24 and 23 points, respectively, for the Lady Bombers, who remained winless through five games.

In the men’s division, Book delivered a dominant performance with 28 points to lift San Beda past JRU, 25-22, 26-28, 25-19, 25-21.

Book finished with 25 attacks, three blocks, 16 receptions, and six digs as the Red Spikers climbed to 3-2.

Paolo Barrientos paced the Heavy Bombers with 25 points, but JRU dropped to 1-4.
