NCAA women's volleyball: Shahanna Lleses shines on both ends as streaking Benilde blanks LPU

Shahanna Lleses displayed her all-around game to help De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde flaunt its dominance against Lyceum of the Philippines University, 25-18, 25-15, 25-16, in NCAA Season 101 women's volleyball on Wednesday.

The sophomore star dropped 12 points, including two of the last six points for the Lady Blazers, and grabbed seven receptions as Benilde seized its fourth straight win to improve to 5-1 in Group A.

Her twin sister, Shekaina, chipped in six markers and nine digs while Clydel Catarig and Zam Nolasco chipped in 10 and eight points, respectively, as the Taft crew snapped the Lady Pirates' three-game winning streak and sent them to a 3-4 card in Group B.

LPU, which was coming off a morale-boosting string of wins over EAC, San Sebastian, and Mapua, kept it close early in the third with the wards of longtime head coach Cromwel Garcia tying things up at 6-all.

However, Benilde started to pull away when Camila Bartolome serve an ace for a 13-9 lead before Shahanna swung for a cross-court kill off her own dig to make it a 17-12 cushion.

Shahanna unleashed two straight attacks that sent Benilde to a 20-14 lead while Bartolome converted two crucial straight points, including a quick kill that captured the match point for Benilde, 24-15.

Newly substituted Angel Mae Almonia delivered the clincher when she soared from the right wing and strike the kill that ultimately took the fight out of LPU.

Graduating Johna Dolorito led the offense and defense for the Lady Pirates with 11 points, seven digs, and nine receptions while lefty opposite hitter Ashley Muchillas added six markers.
