The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA once again showcased its rising core, turning back Lyceum of the Philippines University, 26-24, 18-25, 25-15, 25-19, in NCAA Season 101 men’s volleyball Wednesday at the San Andres Sports Complex.
The surging ALTAs flaunted their youthful core with Marc Tangon shining with a double-double performance of 15 points and 12 receptions as the Las Piñas crew cruised to their sixth consecutive win.
With Tangon steering the ship, the ALTAs improved to 6-2 to stay atop Group A. They also sent the Pirates crashing back to earth, dropping Lyceum to 1-7 in Group B following its breakthrough win over De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde last week.
Tangon didn't lack support with Jose Albon and Arky Corpuz each chipping in 11 points while team captain Jester Bornel chimed in with 10 markers. Setter Klint Mateo added seven points together with 26 excellent sets.
The tandem of Charles Segui and Jun Edang did everything despite the loss. Segui dazzled with a double-double outing of 17 points and 12 receptions while Edang posted 16 markers and six digs.
Perpetual will look to carry this energy in its highly important clash with San Beda University on Sunday while LPU will be gunning for its second win come Saturday against Jose Rizal University.
