NCAA: Axel Van Book, San Beda squeak past LPU to halt two-game skid in men's volleyball

Axel Van Book took charge to propel San Beda University to a 25-17, 25-14, 25-17 win over Lyceum of the Philippines University in NCAA Season 101 men's volleyball on Wednesday at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.

The 22-year-old outside spiker sizzled with 23 points built on 18 attacks, four blocks, and one ace as the Red Spikers halted their two-game slump and improved to 6-4 in Group B.

The middle blocker tandem of Anrie Bakil and Alener Munsing was also huge as they each posted nine points to help finish off the Pirates in just one hour and 14 minutes.

The win allowed San Beda to move just behind Emilio Aguinaldo College (6-3) and create some separation from defending champion Arellano University, which stands at 5-4 in their group.

The Pirates struggled to convert offensively with Jun Edang being limited to nine points while Charles Segui was held to just six markers throughout the game, but added 13 receptions to his name.
