De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde toppled University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, to snap the ALTAs’ seven-game winning streak in the NCAA Season 101 men’s volleyball tournament on Friday at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
Reymark Betco and Rocky Roy Motol once again powered the Blazers. Betco finished with 21 points and six digs, while the reigning Most Valuable Player tallied 20 points and 22 receptions.
Chris Villanueva had 29 excellent sets, while two other players scored in double figures. Dexter Granadia chipped in 13 points and Mike Balbacal added 10, as Benilde reaffirmed its mastery over Perpetual, which it also defeated in the first phase of the preliminary round.
The victory spoiled Dexter Arrozado’s 20-point performance for the Las Piñas-based squad, as well as Marc Tangon’s effort of 11 points, 13 receptions, and four digs.
With the win, both teams now stand at 7-3. The Blazers hold the top spot with 22 points, while Perpetual trails closely with 21.
