Angel Habacon fueled San Beda University’s Set 3 turnaround en route to a 25-22, 25-13, 26-24 sweep of Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball on Sunday at the San Andres Sports Complex.
The third-year outside spiker, who missed majority of San Beda’s straight-set romp of LPU last Wednesday due to injury, dazzld with a triple-double of 14 points, 12 digs, and 10 receptions as the quarterfinal-bound Lady Red Spikers improved to 9-2 in Group B.
The Lady Generals, who wasted two set points in the third frame, remained winless after dropping to 0-11.
The upset-seeking staged a fightback in Set 3 with Marinel Ramos bringing the Lady Generals to a 24-22 cushion off a quick attack play.
However, a short timeout allowed San Beda to restore order.
Habacon started it out by unleashing a hammer from the back row before Gina Espina and Jermaine Joniega connived to deny Angel Joy Perez and force a 24-all deadlock.
The Lady Red Spikers secured a 25-24 cushion off an attack error from Perez as Habacon finished it off with a kill from the left sidr, completing the wild comeback and sweep victory.
Janelle Bachar helped the cause with 15 points while Jeliane Catubig chipped in seven markers.
Cara Dayanan paced EAC with 12 points while Perez churned out nine markers.
