Colegio de San Juan de Letran will head to the quarterfinals unscathed after decimating rival San Beda University, 25-18, 25-18, 25-21, to close out its group stage run in NCAA Season 101 women's volleyball on Sunday.
The Lady Knights turned to usual suspects Judiel Nitura and Vanessa Sarie in reasserting their mastery over the Lady Red Spikers and completing a group stage with a 13-0 record. San Beda, meanwhile, slipped to a 9-4 card.
Nitura led the romp with 18 points built on 13 attacks, four aces, and one block while sophomore star Sarie shone with nine markers, eight digs, and nine receptions for another all-around outing.
Nitura fired an ace before soaring from the back row to give the Lady Knights a 9-4 lead, which middle blocker Leonilyn Padilla turned into a 14-10 cushion after completing a quick kill at the middle.
Nitura buried another one of her aces before San Beda committed a series of errors that allowed the Lady Knights to seize a 23-17 cushion. But Letran also had its own mishaps as San Beda countered with a 3-0 rampage to pull within three, 20-23.
Thanks to back-to-back kills from Nitura and Sarie, Letran finished off the Lady Red Spikers, who were hoping to bounce back from a dramatic five-set loss to Arellano University last Tuesday.
Angel Habacon led San Beda with 17 points and six digs, but got little help from the bench as Janelle Bachar was held to just six markers throughout the match.
