Colegio de San Juan de Letran defeated San Beda University, 20-25, 28-26, 25-21, 28-26, in Game 1 of the NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball semifinals, moving within a win of its third consecutive finals appearance.
Letran held a 24-23 lead in the fourth set, but San Beda scored back-to-back points to take a 25-24 advantage. The Knights responded to tie the set before Angel Habacon gave them a 26-25 edge.
After a timeout, Joralyn Panangin tied the set again at 26-all. However, Judiel Nitura delivered in the clutch, and an unsuccessful block touch challenge by San Beda sealed the victory for Letran.
Nitura led the way with 25 points built on 20 attacks, three blocks, and two aces. Vanessa Sarie also impressed with a triple-double of 17 points, 14 receptions, and 21 digs.
Habacon paced San Beda with 25 points, along with 13 receptions and 12 digs, while Janelle Bachar added 16 points.
Game 2 of the best-of-three semifinals will be held on Wednesday at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
