Axel Van Book claims historic NCAA Season 101 men's volleyball MVP award

Axel Van Book made history on Wednesday, emerging as the first-ever men's volleyball MVP from San Beda University after claiming the top honor in the NCAA Season 101.

The high-flying spiker showed his all-around game this year, steering the Red Spikers to the quarterfinals before they ran out of steam and fell to Mapua University twice to bow out of contention.

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde's Rocky Motol, last year's MVP, won the Best Outside Spiker award alongside Bembem Bautista of Colegio de San Juan de Letran after helping both the Blazing Spikers and the Knights reach the Final Four stage.

Perpetual Help System DALTA’s rising star Jester Bornel and Letran’s veteran Vince Himzon claimed the Best Middle Blocker awards, with Himzon earning his fourth consecutive honor in as many seasons.

Benilde's Reymark Betco was named the Best Opposite Spiker while Arellano University's Laurence Andrei Salvo was hailed as the Best Setter. San Sebastian College-Recoletos' Ace Buenaventura, meanwhile, claimed the Best Libero plum.
