De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and Mapua University will battle for volleyball glory as their teams clash in Game 3 of the NCAA Season 101 men’s and women’s volleyball finals on Friday at the historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
At 12 p.m., the Benilde Blazing Spikers will take on the Mapua Cardinals for the men’s volleyball title.
Mapua drew first blood in Game 1, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-23, before Benilde equalized the best-of-three series with a 25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 15-9 victory in Game 2.
Now, both teams aim to reclaim the crown, with Benilde seeking its first title since 2017, while Mapua last won in the 2001–02 season.
In the women’s division, the Benilde Lady Blazers hope to complete a five-peat in what has been their most challenging season in the past five years, while the Letran Lady Knights aim to cap their dominant campaign on a high note.
Letran outlasted Benilde in Game 1 of the finals, 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-14, 15-11, before Benilde responded with a sweep in Game 2, 25-18, 25-21, 27-25.
A win for Letran would end a 28-year title drought, while a Benilde victory would give the Taft-based squad five consecutive women’s volleyball titles.
