JOSEPH MORONG
Joseph Morong is a political and justice reporter and host for GMA Integrated News for more than twenty years, writing from the corridors of power to remote islands in the Philippines.
He has covered three Supreme Court Chief Justice and at least two Philippine Presidents and has written extensively about China’s aggression in the West Philippine Sea, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and government peace talks, corruption scandals such as the Pork Barrel Scam in 2010 and more recently the anomalous flood control projects, the impeachment of Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona, the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, the modernization of public utility vehicles. His impactful reporting has guided the public through the complexities of government policies notably during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A cum laude journalism graduate at the University in the Philippines, he Is a recipient of various awards such as the Marshall McLuhan Award awarded by the Canadian Embassy in 2015, a fellow at the Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists-Media Responsibility in an Age of Disinformation awarded by the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) in 2020, Journalist of the Year Award by the Rotary Club of Manila Journalism Awards in 2018, and Best Field Reporter in the 19th Gandingan Awards in 2025.
He was a host for “Stand for Truth” and “Fact or Fake with Joseph Morong”.
If he manages to get his mind off current events, he enjoys painting, traveling and pampering his dogs, and recently a cat.
