Mae Soriano gave the Philippines a medal in the Asian Games as she bagged a bronze in karate on Friday.

Soriano started the day with a victory against Macau's Sok I Wong in the quarterfinals of the women's -55 kg, before succumbing to Kazakhstan's Sabina Zakharova in the semifinals.

She took home the bronze after schooling Indonesia's Cok Istri Agung Sanistyarani in the Philippines' last match in the Asiad.

Ramon Antonino Franco also reached the quarters in the men's -55 kg, but fell to China's Jingchao Sun to end his Asiad campaign.

Joanna Mae Ylanan and Princess Diane Sicangco also exited early after losing to Taiwan's Jou Chao and Vietnam's Bui Thi Ngoc. — JST, GMA News
