Barely a quarter of a year on the airwaves, GMA News TV's flagship newscast, State of the Nation with Jessica Soho (SONA), has been reaping awards and acclaim. "While most of the attention is on the neck-and-neck battle between TV Patrol and 24 Oras, a newly launched evening newscast is getting high marks in its content, long-form and exclusive interviews and storytelling approach of its anchor Jessica Soho," a post on popular news blog Medianewserphilippines says about SONA. And just recently, Soho was given the Most Trusted Television News Presenter Award by Reader's Digest Asia, while GMA, the mother network of GMA News TV, took a Gold Award for being one of the Most Trusted Brands in the Television Network Category for the second year in a row, besting entries from China, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand. "The award goes beyond me to cover the entire news organization of GMA Network. We endeavor to continuously remain faithful to 'Serbisyong Totoo' at all times," Soho said in her acceptance speech. Although Soho's career on television news has spanned more than two decades, SONA marks the first time for her to anchor a newscast. But consistent with the quality of her work through the years, she shines as an anchor who connects with the audience while connecting them to the stories of the day.
