FirstCarbon Solutions pushes sustainable resource use, joins tree-planting

ADEC Group member FirstCarbon Solutions, a global industry leader providing managed energy and sustainability services, demonstrated its continuing commitment to the sustainable use of resources and improving environmental performance by taking part in an urban tree-planting initiative led by the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong East (RCME).   The company—which helps its clients profitably improve its sustainability practices—donated 100 fruit-bearing tree seedlings that were planted around the National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong City with the assistance of its director, Bernardino Vicente, RCME officers, and Mutya ng Pilipinas representatives.   According to the Colorado Tree Coalition, a mature tree, on the average, can absorb up to 48 pounds of carbon dioxide annually, and can release enough oxygen to support at least two human beings. On this basis, FirstCarbon Solutions’ efforts could help absorb up to 4,800 pounds of carbon dioxide annually, releasing the oxygen necessary to support 200 people.   ADEC Group chief executive officer James Donovan further emphasized the reason behind the company’s participation to the activity. “Working with RCME, Mutya ng Pilipinas, and other organizations supporting community development and environmental awareness reinforces our commitment to advancing sustainable business practices around the world,” he said.   FirstCarbon Solutions enables businesses to identify and eliminate inefficiencies and costs that contribute to poor use of resources—energy, water, human and otherwise—and help drive better decision-making and improved business performance.   Mutya ng Pilipinas 2011 winners Bea Santiago, Diana Sunshine Raddeman, and May Yasol also participated in the activity along with Prime Puyo, RCME Majestic president; Rafael Garcia III, District Governor of Rotary Club International District 3800; Lorna Lopez, FirstCarbon Solutions Business Development Head; Marvin Valdez, FirstCarbon Solutions Research Head; Erica Jasminez, FirstCarbon Solutions Research Analyst; Anthony Catajan, FirstCarbon Solutions Chief Compliance Officer and RCME Rotarian; and other fellow Rotarians from RCME, Rotary Club of Mandaluyong, and Rotary Club of Mandaluyong North.   The trees planted were named after participants, including Donovan and ADEC Group chief financial officer, Carol Esguerra, both of whom were nominated for the “Executive Leadership Team of the Year” in the prestigious Asia CEO Awards 2011.   FirstCarbon Solutions has plans to support a number of similar environmental initiatives this year. The company believes in encouraging individuals and organizations to adopt practices that contribute to a greener and more sustainable environment. Press release from FirstCarbon Solutions
