The Institute of Government and Law Reform of the University of the Philippines Law Center is holding a forum on the Cybercrime Act Thursday afternoon.
Scheduled speakers at the forum are human rights lawyer Atty. Harry Roque, technology law expert Atty. JJ Disini, and Atty. Terry Ridon, former Student Regent of the University of the Philippines.
The three are petitioners in various petitions to nullify provisions in Republic Act 10175, or the Cybercrime Act, against which journalists, bloggers, netizens, and even hackers are protesting over the Internet.
The forum will take place at the Bocobo Lecture Room at the first floor of the UP Law Center, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The cybercime divisions of the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation, as well as bloggers and the media will be represented. It is open to the public.
The forum was organized by the UP Law Center as part of its mandate to educate the public on important legal issues. — DVM, GMA News
