On October 1, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) officially welcomed two of Coca-Cola Philippines’ top officials at an awards ceremony for the Search for the Ten Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines (TOBS) event, held at Makati City Hall, Manila.
(L-R) Honorary Jejomar Cabauatan Binay, Vice President of the Philippines and National President of the BSP installed Guillermo Aponte, President and General Manager of Coca-Cola Philippines, and Adel Tamano, Public Affairs and Communications Director of Coca-Cola Philippines.
Guillermo Aponte, President and General Manager of Coca-Cola Philippines, and Adel Tamano, Public Affairs and Communications Director of Coca-Cola Philippines, were installed by the Honorary Jejomar Cabauatan Binay, Vice President of the Philippines and National President of the BSP, who was assisted by Jose Rizal Cuba Pangilinan, Secretary General of the BSP.

“The Coca-Cola Company and the Boy Scouts Movement are natural partners. We share a common heritage of being present in the Philippines for about 100 years. TCCC and the Boy Scout Movement are part of our American heritage,” said Aponte. “Our organizations both believe in the power of youth. Youth can actively participate in addressing issues of global importance – issues that are also close to Coca-Cola such as environment, sustainability, diversity, disaster response and education, among others.”

The TOBS is open to Filipino senior scouts who fulfill community service, character development and an interview to test their communication skills. TOBS winners were Danilo Tabilas Jonior, Cagayan North-Tuguegarao council; Austin Bennett Ong and Charles Li, Manila council and another 17 finalists representing the ten scouting regions in the country. The winners received a two-year college scholarship and a cash prize from Coca-Cola Philippines.

As members of the scouting movement, the new recruits will now abide by the Scout oath to “be prepared” at all times.
“The Coca-Cola Company and the Boy Scouts Movement implement programmes on education and life skills training that aim to build confidence and resilience among our young people to make them better citizens and future leaders,” said Aponte.
