Adamson University is all set to host the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 76 which will kick off on June 29 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The much-awaited opening ceremony starts at 12:30 p.m., spiced up with a Hunger Games-themed production number with colorful performances by dancers from Adamson and other member-schools. Videos and the participation of UAAP legends such as Hector Calma and Kenneth Duremdes will enhance the meaning and message of the season's theme Greatness Never Ends, a tribute, in a way, to athletes and individuals who have contributed to the UAAP's success and stability. The theme is also meant to inspire current athletes to continue pursuing excellence and success not only in sports but in life as well.

The country's most prestigious collegiate sports league, the UAAP was founded in 1938 and is composed of eight big universities: Adamson University, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, Far Eastern University, National University, University of the East, University of the Philippines, and University of Santo Tomas. It is now on its 76th season of exciting sports competitions and remains strong as ever organizationally and as a rich source of talents for professional sports.

Adamson University started as the Adamson School of Industrial Chemistry in 1932 and was admitted to the UAAP in 1952 until 1954 on a probationary status. It reapplied in 1970 and has been an active member since then and last hosted the league in 2005. The Adamson Soaring Falcons bases its mascot on Horus, the falcon-headed Egyptian pharaoh-deity, whose eyes paralyzed its enemies. AdU squares off with the University of the Philippines for its first basketball game — the most popular sport in the league — a day after the opening.
