Three students of the De La Salle University School of Economics made it to the Junior Philippine Economics Society’s (JPES) Top Ten Most Outstanding Economics Students in the Philippines. This was announced during the JPES Excellence Awards held last summer in Quezon City.
Ira Gail Zamudio ranked number one, followed by Troy James Palanca in seventh place, and Frances Cassie Tan in eighth place. The three underwent a rigid screening process consisting of a paper screening, an essay submission, and a live panel interview. Zamudio also won a special award for best essay. They competed against other trios from participating schools across the country.
This search aims to give recognition to holistic young economists who exhibit the fervor to excel using Economics as their primary tool. This search also aims to encourage young economists to take a more active role in furthering the social and economic development of the country, in the hopes of prompting inclusive growth.
