August is Jesse Robredo Month

This August, the country remembers the legacy of the late Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse M. Robredo who is known for his commitment to good governance and service to the public.
 
To further uphold his advocacy on leadership with integrity, the Ateneo de Manila University-School of Government together with Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance, Jesse Robredo Foundation, Physicians for Peace, Galing Pook Foundation, Synergeia Foundation, Urban Poor Associates and the De La Salle University's Jesse Robredo Institute of Governance will organize various activities and programs in line with remembering the life of Secretary Robredo, which will be done throughout the month of August.
 
The Jesse Robredo Month activities include the launching of the Jesse Robredo Documentary at the Little Theatre in Miriam College on August 2; Remembering Jesse: A Commemoration Dinner in Club Filipino on August 8; Yapak Natin: A Tsinelas Walk for Jesse Robredo in Quezon Memorial Circle on August 11 at 5am (open to the public); ANC Airing: Participatory Governance, Jesse Robredo’s Legacy on August 13; Jesse Robredo Exhibit at SM Cebu from August 15 to 18,2013 (open to the public); Naga Study Visit in Naga, Camarines Sur on August 15 to 16; offering of flowers in Masbate on August 17; Mobility Mission (Physicians for Peace) in Pili, Camarines Sur on August 17, Naga City, Camarines Sur on August 18 and Passi, Iloilo on August 25; mass in Naga and Manila on August 18; Tsinelas Giving and Storytelling in Estero de San Miguel, Manila on August 24; and screening of Jesse Robredo Documentary to public school students at the Leong Hall in Ateneo de Manila University.
 
Other programs include Lead Like Jesse—a three-day youth leadership training program nationwide, Jesse Robredo Caravan of Good Governance in partnership with Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines in several colleges and universities, Essay Writing Contest for students and young professionals aged 16 to 23, and opening of public school libraries in partnership with Acts of Hope for the Nation Foundation.
 
According to Kaya Natin! Movement Lead Convener and Ateneo School of Government Youth Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship Executive Director Harvey Keh, “August is declared as Jesse Robredo Month not only to commemorate the first death anniversary of Sec. Jesse with the whole nation, but also to help ensure that his brand of ‘tsinelas leadership’ lives on in the hearts of those he has inspired and empowered.”
