Cobra PDBF Team bags four medals at 11th IDBF World Championship

Manila - The Cobra Philippine Dragon Boat Federation Team successfully bagged two silver and two bronze medals at the recently-concluded 11th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Dragon Boat Championship, held last July 24 to 28 in Hungary.

A highly competitive and physically taxing tournament, with over 30 countries and about 40,000 athletes vying for World titles, the Cobra paddlers won in four categories: silver in the 500m mixed premier standard boat, silver in the 200m women's small boat category, bronze for the 500m women's small boat, and bronze for the 200m mixed premier standard boat.

Against top-notch competition from Canada, China, Australia and the US, the Philippine paddlers can be proud that they consistently placed in the top-5 of the categories they competed in, especially with the first Philippine women's delegation sent to compete on an international stage.

"The determination and resilience of the Cobra PDBF team is what brought them to place in the World Championship, bagging four medals. Despite the fact that this was the first time that the Cobra PDBF team entered women's races, the local rowers took home their silver and bronze medals, in what is expected to be just the first of many successful competitions.
