Ayuda Zamboanga charity basketball game to be held on September 22

In the wake of the bloody Zamboanga incident which was has displaced thousands of Zamboanguenos, players from Zamboanga City, with the support of SMART, have organized the SMART Friendly Game: Ayuda Zamboanga, a benefit event for the residents who were affected by the ongoing crisis.

Among the players from Zamboanga who will see action in the event, which will take place on Sunday, September 22, 6pm, at the Cuneta Astrodome, will be former PBA player Chester Tolomia, San Mig Coffee Mixer Mark Barocca, GlobalPort Batang Pier Rudy Lingganay and former PBA superstar Jerry Codinera.

Also attending the event are UAAP standouts Mike Tolomia and RR Garcia from FEU, and Ateneo's Kiefer Ravena.

Aside from the aforementioned players, Zamboanga City has produced several top-notch basketball players, including SMART Gilas cadets RR Garcia and Garvo Lanete.

Organizers, led by Rolando Navarro and Vincent Guingona, also thanked businessman-sports enthusiast Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) for his wholehearted support, which helped make the event possible.

“We want to thank MVP for supporting this event, which will go a long way to help our fellow Zamboanguenos who are experiencing hardships because of the situation there. We would also like to call basketball fans to show their support by watching the game,” Guingona said.
