St. Luke's Medical Center among 40 "best hospitals in the world", think tank says

A Netherlands-based think tank and membership organization for diplomats has assessed the St. Luke's Medical Center as among the 40 best hospitals in the world.

DC issues two quality assessments for medical facilities: Best Hospitals of the World and Global Hospitals for international patients.

The “Best Hospitals” certificate results from DC evaluation of “medical facilities that offer treatment for international patients within the scope of medical tourism and tourism medicine.”

“Only the worldwide best medical facilities (hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, dental clinic) are awarded this (Best Hospitals)certificate. Presently, around 40 clinics from Sao Paulo to Manila have passed the most challenging quality check worldwide,” the Diplomatic Council (DC) also said on its website.

The certification means that St. Luke's will be recommended by the Diplomatic Council to various diplomatic corps and will be included in health care guides of  Hospitalscout.com.

DC said on its website that medical care costs in the Philippines are 68 percent lower than in the United States and 54 percent lowercompared to costs in the United Kingdom.

“The Philippines has established itself as a medical tourism destination and receives 200,000 medical tourists annually from the US and Canada (40%), Japan and Korea (20%), Europe (17%), Middle East (7%) and Micronesia (6%),” the DC website also said. — SA/ELR, GMA News
