San Beda College Alabang showcases 50 years of Bedan heritage at Alabang Town Center

Manila, Philippines — Fifty Years of instilling “Ora et Labora,” Latin for Pray and Work, a Catholic monastic practice mainly associated with St. Benedict, resulted in a strong Bedan Community molded by San Beda College Alabang. This coming weekend, August 27 and 28, 2022, the alumni of the same school headed by High School Batch 1997 have organized a showcase of 50 Years of Bedan Heritage, inviting all members of the Bedan Community to join the 2-Day Marketplace, Exhibit, and Performances at the Activity Center of Alabang Town Center. The event will be a concerted effort to give back to the school. It will provide a place for every student, graduate, administrator, faculty and employee to come together and commemorate the impact that Beda has created in their lives — Catholic Christian in Principle, Benedictine in Orientation, and Filipino In Character.

The festivities will commence beginning mall hours and will have an opening ceremony at 1:00 PM on August 27 through an inspiring message led by San Beda College Alabang Rector-President, Fr. Gerardo Ma. De Villa, OSB. The inauguration of a Bedan Gallery and Exhibit curated by San Beda College Museum and Archives to reminisce the school's history follows.

The afternoon will be full of nostalgia and music as the crowd's favorite rock alternative band, Sandwich, with San Beda's alumna Diego Castillo on the guitars, will perform live. Also headlining the concert is Top Suzara, formerly with Freestyle, and Live Electronic Artist Silverfilter, both proud graduates of the school.

On Sunday, August 28, the Bedan Red Lions of the south will paint the town red with a showcase of Bedan performances by San Beda College Alabang's faculty, students, and alumni leading the entertainment. Don't miss out on the parade of talents by the Bedanz Dance Troupe, Bedan Theatrics, Bedan Movers, SBCA Hisis Band, SBCA Guitar Ensemble, SBCA Chorale, and many more.

Chair of Event Organizing Committee, Leigh Formilleza-De Armas, says, "It is our privilege to be able to give back to the school on its 50th year. There is no denying that much of who we are today and the values we carry that build society was because of the patience, hard work, and grace of all our educators and school officials. We are thankful that the school's legacy has just begun, and you can see that in the community it has built."

The 2-day fair has also gathered more than 20 booth merchants and exhibitors led by the event's platinum sponsor, PLDT Home. The event was also made possible by the support of the following brands: Cheers, Ayala Land Premier, InLife, GCASH, Avida, Poten-Cee Forte, C-Lium Fibre, WellGreens, and Gold Seas Tuna; as well as the organizing teams led by Alabang Town Center, BrandSpeakAsia, Brand on Demand; as well as the school’s Golden Jubilee Steering Committee, the Alumni Association; the Alumni Affairs Office;  and the IBED K-12 Administrators including the Office of Student Activities. Proceeds  from this event will be used to run a successful Homecoming Celebration on December 3,  2022.
