UE launches coffee table book featuring outstanding alumni
The University of the East (UE) has released its latest commemorative coffee table book to celebrate the school's legacy and distinguished alumni, while chronicling its institutional journey across its Manila and Caloocan campuses as it marks its 79th founding anniversary this September.
Featured in the UE book titled Birthplace of Warriors are prominent UE graduates Supreme Court Justice Japar Dimaampao, former Court of Appeals Associate Justice Carmelita Salandanan-Manahan, former Philippine Ambassador to ASEAN Elizabeth Buensuceso, election lawyer Romulo Macalintal, Megaworld Corporation founder Andrew Tan, and Paris Olympics fencer Samantha Kyle Catantan, among others.
Originally conceptualized during UE’s 75th anniversary in 2021, the 212-page book also showcases a gallery of the university’s 75 most outstanding alumni—recognized as UE's beacons of excellence and resilience.
"This coffee table book is only the second in UE’s history," said UE Chairman and CEO Dr. Lucio Tan in his message. “May everyone who gets hold of it be inspired to become indomitable forces for good, just as the University has been fulfilling its role as an academic institution.”
UE Vice Chairman David Chua added, "This is our way of collectively looking back at 75 years of UE. The achievements of our graduates are a testament to the transformative power of a UE education."
In her foreword, UE President Emeritus Dr. Ester Garcia wrote, "The stories of our ‘Warriors’ are woven into UE’s history—each one a testament to resilience, determination, and the relentless pursuit of dreams."
Birthplace of Warriors is available through the UE Alumni Affairs Office. Inquiries may be directed to alumni@ue.edu.ph.
Founded in 1946, UE is a private academic institution that once held the distinction of having the largest student population in Asia.
