The University of the East (UE) has lined up a series of activities this April as part of the run- up to its 80th foundation anniversary in September 2026, with several events open to students, faculty and the public.

Major activities include “Dangal ng Silangan,” an awards program of the College of Arts and Sciences Manila on April 14, and “Edukpasasalamat” by the College of Education on April 22.

On April 20, the university will hold a campus-to-career seminar for incoming college freshmen organized by its Guidance, Counseling and Career Services Office, alongside a teaching demonstration contest by the College of Education.

A cultural presentation, “Indayog sa Silangan,” will also be staged on April 21 by the UE Silanganan Dance Troupe in cooperation with the Basic Education Department of its Caloocan campus.'

The April lineup forms part of UE’s broader pre-anniversary program anchored on the theme, “Honoring the past, building the future,” which highlights academic, civic, and cultural engagements across its campuses.

UE President Zosimo M. Battad said the activities are designed to mark the milestone while benefiting stakeholders.

“As we approach our 80th year, we hope to engage our students and the wider community beyond the classroom through these activities, in ways that reflect the University’s role in advancing academic, cultural and civic engagement,” Battad said.

Earlier this month, the university held a forum on West Philippine Sea security and cooperation featuring Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Rear Admiral Jay Tarriela under its National Service Training Program.

Recognition activities have also been conducted, including the College of Business Administration Manila’s awarding of its Top 25 Academic Scholars for 2025-2026, along with outreach initiatives in selected local government units outside Metro Manila.

Founded in 1946, UE currently ranks no. 5 among Philippine private universities in Asia in the Applied Higher Education Private University Ranking: All Asia 2026, and no. 6 in Manila and no. 16 in the Philippines based on EduRank.org.
