A live-blogging platform was forced to implement a required password reset for its users after it was hacked, a tech site reported late Sunday.
PC Magazine said CoverItLive, a platform used to cover live events, disclosed Friday night it discovered a hack of its files as early as Jan. 7.
It cited the company's email to users saying certain CoverItLive proprietary data files were accessed without authorization starting about January 7, but stressed "no financial account information has been compromised."
But as a precautionary measure, the blogging platform will start requiring passwords resets on all active accounts starting Saturday at 12 a.m. Eastern.
Also, it advised users to change their password on any other site on which they use the same login and password as CoverItLive.
On the other hand, the company said users conducting a live event at the time of the password reset will not be affected.
"The next time you log in after the process has begun, you will be asked to change your password before you will be allowed into your account," CoverItLive said. — TJD, GMA News
