After getting his own apartment, rising National Basketball Association superstar Jeremy Lin is getting something that many take for granted: his own public Facebook account.
Lin made active on Monday (Manila time) his own Timeline-enabled Facebook profile (https://www.facebook.com/lin7), getting a whopping 48,622 subscribers as of Tuesday evening, Manila time.
He also filled in his Facebook Timeline with photos of him as a New York Knick and a player for Harvard University and Palo Alto High School.
Tech site Mashable said Lin had actually been on Facebook since August, but not with a public profile.
Instead, Mashable said Lin had curated and updated his Facebook fan page before coming out with his own public page.
Mashable noted Lin has been a star on social media as well - his Twitter account, @JLin7, was mentioned 215,408 times.
His full name was mentioned more than 2.5 million times, Mashable quoted The Hollywood Reporter as saying.
"The Linsanity has also reached YouTube as fans watch winning assists and last-minute free throws caught on tape. Videos produced and uploaded by Lin before his new-found fame, such as a video dubbed 'How to Get into Harvard,' have been seen millions of times over the past few weeks," it added.
Traffic to NYKnicks.com has spiked 550% since Lin’s arrival, it added. — TJD/HS, GMA News
