Old-fashioned, this 80-year-old tweeting grandmother is definitely not.
J-Dimps, a.k.a. Josie Dimples, is on a mission to get 80,000 followers - or preferably a million - before she dies.
"I'm 80 years old and I want 80,000 followers (or maybe a million) before I die!" the grandmother - whose real name tech site Mashable said is Josephine Lamberti - said on the profile of her Twitter account.
And she is about three-fourths on the way to getting her "80k" followers: she had 64,124 followers as of Friday noon, Manila time.
She has also sent 23,916 tweets and is following 5,556 Twitter users.
A separate article on Mashable said Lamberti is a hit with celebrities, getting retweets and direct messages (DMs) from pop stars and pro athletes.
Earlier this year, National Basketball Association player Nate Robinson, a guard for the Golden State Warriors, invited Josie and her grandson to a game after chatting over Twitter.
“We went and he met us after the game. He wanted to meet me more than I wanted to meet him. It was awesome,” J-Dimps said.
The grandmother joined Twitter with the help of grandson Donny Brandefine, 24.
“Well, it was getting a little boring, so he came over and we tried to figure out something to keep me busy. We came up with this idea, and it’s been good,” she said.
Mashable also said she has a list called MyAdoptedGrandchildren - about 300 celebrities she had interacted with on Twitter or is especially fond of.
“Thats all the big stars she has following her... To me its crazy seeing her just sit there like, ‘Yeah, Jose Canseco’s reading me, Rihanna’s reading me.’ She thinks she’s a big shot over here!” Brandefine said.
Dimps also said she remains young at heart. "She Tebows, and she represents the hashtag #OLDladySWAG," Mashable said.
“I’m really cool, stylish,” she said in explaining the #OLDladySWAG tag. “Funny. That’s about it. I really don’t act my age.”
“Now I dance to the Rihanna music. I don’t do the lindy or things like that no more,” she added.
On the other hand, she said she might follow back her tweeps if they make her laugh.
“If they make me laugh, I’ll follow them back,” she said. — RSJ, GMA News
