Google Doodle celebrates archaeologist Mary Leakey's 100th birthday
Search giant Google on Wednesday paid tribute to British archaeologist Mary Leakey with a doodle marking her 100th birth anniversary.
Visitors to Google's homepage (www.google.com) were greeted with a doodle of Leakey at work in the field.
As in the past, clicking on the doodle will take the visitor to a Google Search Results page for Mary Leakey.
Leakey was born on Feb. 6, 1913 and died Dec. 9, 1996.
She is remembered for discovering the first fossilized Proconsul skull - that of an extinct ape believed to be an ancestor of humans.
Also, she is remembered for discovering the Zinjanthropus skull at Olduvai Gorge.
