This video proves the US National Aeronautics Space Administration's interns aren't just good at studying the stars. They're geniuses at parodying the stars, too.

Pathways Interns at NASA's Johnson Space Center created the video "All About That Space" as a parody to Meghan Trainor's hit "All About That Bass."

But more than just give Weird Al Yankovic a run for his money, the parody by NASA's interns also aims to generate "interest and excitement" for Orion's first flight.

"The lyrics and scenes in the video have been re-imagined in order to inform the public about the amazing work going on at NASA and the Johnson Space Center," NASA said in a YouTube video.

Orion is a multipurpose crew vehicle built to carry astronauts to deep space. NASA said Orion aims "to take humans farther than they’ve ever gone before."

"Orion will serve as the exploration vehicle that will carry the crew to space, provide emergency abort capability, sustain the crew during the space travel, and provide safe re-entry from deep space return velocities," it added.

The parody earned positive reviews from various media outlets.

"As far as parody covers go though, NASA has done a pretty good job. The vocal is easier on the ears than Trainor’s is, and the production is almost as good (although that isn’t saying much)," said the Guardian.

"The young NASA hopefuls, Pathways Interns at JSC, manage to infuse the parody with a positive message centered on exploration," added Space.com.

Sesame Street in space

In a separate YouTube video, characters from Sesame Street sent their favorite items to NASA to place aboard Orion for its flight test last Dec. 4.

"Our favorite Sesame Street characters know what they would bring along. Cookie Monster knows he’ll get hungry on the trip. What will he want to eat? A cookie, of course! Bert will bring his Rubber Ducky to keep him company. Grover will be sure to bring his Red Cape when he goes to the Red Planet. And Slimey…well, he’s going to sneak on board," NASA Orion said in a Google+ post.
