Instagram photos now stored at higher resolution
Users of Instagram complaining about the Facebook-owned photo-sharing service's low 640x640 resolution may have no more reason to fret.
Instagram now stores photos at a much higher 1080 x 1080 resolution, tech site The Verge reported.
The Verge said users can see the change if they look at the source code on the photos service's web view.
By using a browser and opening a photo page's source HTML code, users can search for .jpg and the "first result should be the URL to the larger version of the picture," it said.
Uploads from Android and iOS devices are being stored in the higher resolution, it added.
This could mean Instagram is preparing to make a "full and public switch" to the higher resolution "in the coming days or weeks," the report said.
Still, The Verge said it may be too early to say if Instagram's issue of over-compressing images from its Android app has been addressed. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
