Smart rolls out free Instagram access

Smart Communications on Tuesday announced that its prepaid and postpaid subscribers will now be able to access Instagram for free on their mobile devices. Users can browse their feeds and upload content without incurring additional data charges.

 

Prepaid subscribers can browse and post to Instagram for up to 30 MB per day when they avail of prepaid promos which include All Text 20, Unli Call & Text 30, All in 99 and Mega 250. Users who avail of any of the Surf Plus Plans will enjoy free Instagram as part of their freebie app bundle for 30 days.

 

The announcement is the latest move among local telcos to grow their respective subscriber bases by tapping into public demand for free access to social media.

 

Earlier this year, Globe Telecom came into the spotlight when it offered free access to popular messaging app Viber.

 

Meanwhile, in a recent tie-up with Facebook, both Smart and Globe have enabled free access to curated content via the Internet.org app. — TJD, GMA News
