'AlDub' dominates Google's top PHL search trends in 2015

Google released their list of Top Trending Searches on Wednesday and the phenomenal love team from Kalyeserye dominated the list, with 'AlDub' edging Pope Francis out as the overall trending search topic in the Philippines. 

Breakout star Maine Mendoza is the third most searched topic, followed by her avenue for success Dubsmash at fifth and her onscreen partner Alden Richards at sixth. 

Maine also topped the Top Trending Female Personalities list, beating UFC fighter Ronda Rousey, 'Fifty Shades of Gray' star Dakota Johnson, and television personality Caitlyn Jenner. 

Pambansang Bae Alden Richards is only second in the Top Trending Male Personalities list, but losing to Pope Francis can't be that bad.

Pinoys also searched for athletes Stephen Curry and Lamar Odom, plus tough talking personalities Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and General Antonio Luna. Canadian Prime Minister and #APECHottie Justin Trudeau made it to the list at tenth—there at the edge of people's consciousness. 

Their theme song, "God Gave Me You", also appears on the Top Trending Songs (Lyrics) list, along with "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran, "Flashlight" by Jessie J, and "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift. No more "Starbucks lovers" misheard lyrics for those users. 

Other trending topics were Fifty Shades of Grey, FIBA Asia 2015, and the APEC Summit 2015. Curiously, people were also trying to find out "How to cure sore eyes" and "How to register in Comelec". —AT, GMA News
