Photo of helpful traffic constable wins Good Scoop of the Year

A photo of a traffic constable pushing a stalled vehicle out of the way of ongoing traffic won the Good Scoop of the Year award by News To Go. 

The photo, taken by YouScooper Enzo Cruz, bested 4 other entries by getting 388 votes on the official Facebook page of News To Go.

Cruz submitted the photo last September 2015. When he was contacted by GMA News, Cruz said that he noticed traffic building up along Marcos Highway.

“Medyo may build up po kasi sa bandang dulo kaya po noong tiningnan ko yung unahan 'yan po nakita ko,” Cruz said.

He added that the constable helped push the car to the side of the road to alleviate traffic.

“I noticed yung traffic constable na nagtutulak. Minsan ka lang makakita ng ganoon during this time na may mabait na taong tumutulong,” Cruz said.

He looked for the constable but was unable to find him.

“Gusto ko sana siyang makilala. Isasama ko po sana yung picture niya within the photo I sent para ma-raise yung awareness na may something pa rin sa humanity natin, na hindi tayo dapat mawalan ng pag-asa,” Cruz said.

To Cruz, the act was worthy of being shared and reported online.

“Para sa akin, ang paggamit ng technology o social media, it comes with responsibility. Hindi lang po siya binigay sa atin para gamitin ng gamitin. Dapat gamitin natin siya in a way na makatutulong sa iba,” Cruz said.
