Tourism USec. De Castro slams Trillanes for ‘tattoo discrimination’

Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro on Thursday took to Facebook to slam Senator Antonio "Sonny" Trillanes IV for a "tattoo-shaming" incident during the Senate blue ribbon committee hearing on an alleged drug-smuggling case at the Bureau of Customs.

"If they ask me to show my tattoos in the Senate, I'd say the same thing: NO WAY. Or even: NO FREAKIN' WAY," De Castro wrote.

She added, "Tattoo discrimination at its finest in this hearing. Brought to you by Trillanes."

De Castro additionally posted on Instagram nine of the 12 tattoos on her body with the hashtag #NoToTattooDiscrimination.

During the hearing, Trillanes attempted to link Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo "Pulong" Duterte to a drug triad. Trillanes said that a dragon-like tattoo on Duterte's back will prove that he is a member.

Duterte declined Trillanes' request to have the tattoo on his back inspected and photographed.

"No way," Duterte said.

Duterte's sister Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and a sports and fitness group from Davao have found humor in the situation, each making jokes about the incident. —Aya Tantiangco/KG, GMA News
